Hollywood Entertainment District on Hollywood Boulevard extends along the world-famous Walk of Fame down 18-blocks of historic Hollywood Boulevard, from the La Brea Gateway to the corner of Hollywood & Vine and beyond.  This epicenter of the entertainment capital of the world and birthplace of the movie industry contain many of Hollywood's most famous landmarks. We recommend that you start your search at this point. Here are some of the landmarks in this district.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame

Take a walk along Hollywood Boulevard and you will see blocks of stars with the names of Hollywood personalities in the fields of radio, television, motion pictures, recording, and live performance. A celebrity can have more than one star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When an honored celebrity dies, it's traditional to leave flowers or other mementos by the star.

Grauman's Chinese Theatre

Opened in 1927, it is safe to say that this is the most famous theater in the world. This landmark has been the site of more Hollywood premieres than any other theater. One of its attractions is the famous cement forecourt containing hand and footprints of numerous screen legends, including John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland and Jack Nicholson, to name a few.

The Kodak Theatre

This beautiful 3,400 seat theater opened in 2001 to much fanfare. It is now the permanent home for the annual Academy Awards. It also houses the "American Idol" finals. A guided tour of this fabulous performance venue is well worth the cost. The Kodak Theatre is the crown jewel of the Hollywood & Highland Center retail, dining and entertainment complex located in the very heart of Hollywood.

Hollywood and Highland Center

This newer retail center has added lots of  polish to the Hollywood Entertainment District. With more than 387,000 square feet of retail space, tons of restaurants and eateries, a Renaissance Hotel, and the Kodak Theatre, Hollywood and Highland Center has something for everyone. There are numerous restaurants and a good place to stop for some shopping. Parking is critical in the area, and the Highland Center has adequate parking in their garage.

Disney's El Capitan

The legendary El Capitan Theatre made its debut on May 3, 1926, as "Hollywood's First Home of Spoken Drama." This old grand theater has been restored to its original elegance, now hosts live stage shows, world premieres, and other special events.

The Roosevelt Hotel

The Roosevelt opened in 1927 and it is considered the birthplace of the Academy Awards. Stars such as Clark Gable, Carole Lombard and Marilyn Monroe liked to stay here. There is also a Marilyn Monroe Suite named in her honor.
